So whilst Manchester has the most Chinese students (1383) it ranks only 19 out of 41 for the percentage of its students who are from China (4.5%), reflecting the size of this university. Imperial College London has the highest percentage (10.6%) as well as having the second highest overall (1133) – as you will see next week this is due to its surprisingly high numbers of Bachelor degree students from China.0 a+ L" q$ r% i  v% J' {) W

In terms of percentage (%) of the total student population (including British students), nearly all universities have relatively small Chinese, undergraduate populations of 5% or less. Lancaster, Surrey, Nottingham, Cardiff and Durham are the only other Business schools with more than 300 students from China. Lancaster stands out as it is one of the countries top rated (5*) business schools. At the other end of the scale, Bristol, Sheffield, Queen Mary, KCL, SOAS and Cambridge all have 100 or less Chinese students in their Business departments. Not only are these institutions all very prestigious but also they have a fairly limited number of business courses and this explains their low numbers of Chinese students. Surprisingly Cambridge reported just one student from Mainland China in its Business School.
